LA Indymedia’s Google Index… is sucking

Tuesday, February 27

I’m skipping the numbers today. Some have changed a lot, some haven’t changed much, but the big, weird thing that happened is that some trends have reversed or plateaued. I’m not sure why this is.

The size of the index is now 52,330, and duplicates without canonical tags is now 5567.

The big news is that the site finally has a sitemap. It required a bit of code. There are over 64,000 URLs in this sitemap.

The code isn’t complete, either. It’s only the news articles. There aren’t any sitemaps for the features and calendar events. That’ll come along with some code improvements.

Google hasn’t indexed any pages in there, yet.
